2007 Season off to a Good Start for the Clarinda A's - Updates Coming SoonApologies to all for not having the updated stats and game information on the web site yet. The stat program that we usually use was lost and is now found so hope to get all the games up by the first part of this next week. Please have patience and bear with us. Clarinda A’s are off to a good start to the 2007 season having an 8-1 record as they finished the weekend this past Sunday. Memorial weekend looked like it might be rained out but the three games scheduled with Springfield Generals were played. The Saturday double header turned into a single night game because of the rain, so the double header was played on Sunday with the A’s taking all those games winning 4-1 on Saturday and 7-2 and 10-5 on Sunday. Carroll Classics came to town on Memorial Day, with the A’s taking that game 12-4. Clarinda downed the Blair (Ne) Hammerheads Tuesday 5-1. The game with Omaha Diamond Spirit which was scheduled as an Shenandoah Optimists Club sponsored game there was played in Clarinda Wednesday with the A’s winning 10-0 and three Clarinda pitchers, Grant Campbell, Kyle Wagner and Sammy Miller, combining for a no-hitter. That game will be made up in Shenandoah June 27th. Clarinda traveled to Junction City, Ks., for two games Friday and Saturday. The first game was rained out Friday evening and doubleheader was played on Saturday. The two seven inning games turned into one nine and one seven as the A’s had to go the extra two to gain an 8-3 win in the first contest and lost the second game by the identical score. Sunday night the A’s hosted the Topeka Golden Giants for their first MINK League game and won 5-1. Monday the team traveled to Chillilcothe where they chalked up their second league win 5-1. Saturday, June 9 is the first of the A’s free night promotions when the Omaha Cubs come to town. Sturm Financial Services will sponsor “Make a Grand Slam with Raymond James Night” and have several fun events planned for the evening. Wednesday, June 13 will be Subway Night which will feature a sampling of their sandwiches and drawings that evening. Each home date will have the Hy-Vee Toss which will allow two people drawn randomly to try to throw a baseball through a hole in a baseball mitt target and win a $100 gift certificate from the local store. Free baseball bingo is also played at the home games with the numbers dependant on the plays made during the home team half of each inning. Again, we will have things up and running smoothly in a short period of time – glad you are interested enough to inquire about the team.
