Clarinda A’s 36th Annual Baseball Hall of Fame Banquet this Saturday, January 22, will feature many nice items in the silent auction held in conjunction with the event.

Among those autographed memorabilia include photos of Ozzie Smith, St.Louis Cardinals; Josh Beckett, Boston Red Sox; Larry Christiansen, Philadelphia Phillies; Pete Rose, Cincinnati Reds; Scott Brosius, New York Yankees; Hank Aaron, Atlanta Braves; Joba Chamberlain, New York Yankees; Ralph Terry, New York Yankees. Tom Osborne also autographed a 1995 Sports Illustrated cover as well as a Nebraska Stadium aerial view photo. All the photos in the auction are framed, with some also matted. Some of the baseballs are from Stan Musial, St. Louis Cardinals; Josh Beckett; Pete Rose; Nolan Ryan, Texas Rangers; Scott Brosius and Larry Christiansen. Other items will also be available.

Ozzie Smith, a 2002 inductee into the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Jose Alvarez, pitcher for the Atlanta Braves, now affiliated with Fellowship of Christian Athletes with his program “Tour for Life” on the pro golf circuit, will be signing autographs at 5:30.

Program which follows the dinner will recognize the High School team and youth traveling teams, with A’s manager Ryan Eberly to recap the 2010 season and give an outlook for the coming summer. Mayor Gordon Kokenge will present the awards to the six new inductees, Ed Gumm, Maryville, Mo; Rusty Pontious, Fort Worth, Tx; Charlie Richardson, Clarinda; the late Johnny Taylor; Robert Wesley, Los Angeles, Ca and Gavin Wright, Austin, Tx., into the Hall. A question/answer session with Smith, Alvarez and scouts Jerry Lafferty, Kansas City Royals and Bob Steinkamp, Seattle Mariners will close out the evenings activities. This is always an enjoyable part of the event.
