LOCAL BUSINESS SUPPORTING A’s IN A BIG WAY

LOCAL BUSINESS SUPPORTING A’s IN A BIG WAY (See Photos HERE)

Clarinda’s Hy-Vee Food Store has chosen “Hy-Vee Supports Our Hometown A’s” as their spring and summer promotion this year.

Manager Jim Carney has done a great job in helping bring attention to the team as they kicked off their “spring fling” with a cookout May 2 in conjunction with the Page County Cattleman’s Association. Half of the proceeds from the event will be split between the A’s and Cattlemen.

Outside, the store front is painted with the promotion slogan, and inside are large banners in each aisle as well as A’s team pictures, yearbook covers and team jerseys through the years. In the deli eating area are large displays with pictures and write-ups with some of the history of the A’s organization. Employees will be wearing blue shirts with the red A’s and Hy-Vee logos on them during the weekends through Labor Day, as well as A’s hats.

A’s board, auxiliary and management truly appreciate this type of support from the business community and hope everyone will take time to stop in when they are in Clarinda to see the displays and be encouraged to get down to Municipal Stadium for some games this season.

Thanks to Hy-Vee, Carney and his employees for this show of support.

A's won all three.  All three were 7 inning games.  Don't remember final score, but none were close.  Second game on Sunday was called due to tornado warning, at the time, the A's were losing 5-0 in second inning.  This game was scraped and they started fresh on Monday.  The second game on Monday was shortened due to run rule.  The team they played was younger boys and they made several errors.  The pitching looked good for the most part.  Defense looked good.  Hitting needs to catch up.  The test will come when they start league play.  A's should have a good team once they settle in to positions and rotation.

I looked to the Junction City Website which was nice. Hopefully we can pick up a Webcast of this weekends games. Are they usual pretty strong? Their roster shows some good baseball schools
