(KMAland) -- Clarinda A's legacy Adam Poldberg is back with the MINK League team this summer.

The former Thomas Jefferson standout is working on his third college, but he has stuck with the A's each of the past three summers.

"I take just as much pride in playing for the A's as I do playing for my college team," Poldberg said on KMA's Upon Further Review Tuesday.

After a year at Iowa Central and two at Emporia State, Poldberg is now at Wayne State. The left-handed pitcher is also the son of Omaha Storm Chasers manager and former Clarinda A Brian Poldberg, so he's had plenty of coaching throughout this life.

"My dad has been around (baseball) for such a long time," Poldberg said. "He knows pretty much anything you need to know, especially on the college side of things. He said to just roll with the punches. When you get your opportunity, go out there and do your best. If it goes good, great. If not, then you get back to work."

Poldberg says he's also learned plenty at his three college stops. At Iowa Central, Rick Pederson taught him the value of spreading your time between academics and athletics. At Emporia State, Bob Fornelli was very big on the mental part of the game. Now, at Wayne State, Alex Koch and assistant Kirk Clark have brought a bulldog mentality to their coaching.

"It's kind of interesting," Poldberg said. "Most coaches follow a similar model, but everybody has their own little intricacies. It's good to be around (different philosophies)."

Poldberg has taken those philosophies and applied them while with the A's. Last year, he had a breakout summer, ranking highly in the MINK in several statistical categories. The success is something Poldberg doesn't take lightly.

"These people here, it's their team," he said. "They put their heart and soul into it, and I feel like going out there, I'm not just representing myself and Wayne State, I'm representing Clarinda and Southwest Iowa. We are the only Iowa team in the league. We gotta show them what we got."

For the third straight summer, Poldberg is staying with Larry and Shira Bridie - the same family that housed his father back in 1979.

"They're great people," he said. "There's always food and cookies laying around, which I love."

Poldberg is the first of many Meet the A's segments on Upon Further Review this summer. To hear the complete interview click here.

Upon Further Review is heard daily on KMA Radio from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Barrett's KMAland Catch Up is a daily segment within the show at approximately 11:50.
