A's split doubleheader with Jefferson City

(Clarinda) -- The Clarinda A's and Jefferson City Renegades split a doubleheader on Friday night in Clarinda.

The A's dropped the opening game 9-5 and took a 5-4 win in the nightcap.

The Renegades had 12 hits and used a four-run fourth inning to take the opener. The A's had nine hits, including multi-hit efforts from Jacob Edwards, Jackson Crochet and Victor Perez.

Wyatt Ball hit his first home run of the season, while Crochet added his second double and Garrett Herrmann picked up his first. Perez drove in two runs to move his team-leading total to 11.

Adam Poldberg took the loss, working four innings and allowing six runs on eight hits.

The second game saw the A's overcome an early 3-0 deficit with a four-run third inning.

Jordan Abushahla singled, doubled and drove in three runs, and Ball connected on an RBI single that proved to be the difference.

Elijah Greene threw two innings of hitless relief, striking out three and walking one to pick up the win. Samuel Reed worked around two walks in the seventh to earn the save.

The A's (6-3) will host Jefferson City against on Saturday night at 7:00.
