FORMER A’s CURRENTLY IN PROFESSIONAL BASEBALL

2010 finds several former A’s participating in some capacity on professional ball clubs.

Buddy Black is the manager of the San Diego Padres who have started off strong. Eric Peyton is a batting coach for the Padres minor league Eugene Emeralds.

Jamey Carroll is playing primarily second base now for the Los Angeles Dodgers and Bruce Hines is their field director.

Andrew Cashner is now pitching for the Chicago Cubs Iowa Cubs and Dan Descalso is playing second base for St. Louis Cardinals team the Memphis Redbirds.

For the Kansas City Royals, Brian Poldberg is the manager for the NW Arkansas Naturals and Brian Rupp holds the same position for their Wilmington Blue Rocks and Von Hayes is the manager of the independent Camden Riversharks.

Scott Emerson is the pitching coach for the Oakland A’s Midland Rockhounds and Jeff Branson is the batting coach for the Pittsburg Pirates Indianapolis Indians.

Brian Justice is pitching for the Toronto Blue Jays Auburn Double days, Andrew Kainer will be pitching for Florida Marlins NY team this summer.

Through the years the A’s have had over 250 former players in professional baseball, with 30 making it to the major league level.

After the draft and when the short season teams get started we’re sure there will be others who will be playing. If we have missed someone who is currently playing, managing or coaching professionally, please let us know – it is hard to keep track of everyone and we want to stay as current as possible.
