Clarinda A's Bus Fire - Update from the A's Board of Directors, Auxiliary and Management Team

FROM THE CLARINDA A's BOARD OF DIRECTORS, AUXILIARY AND MANAGEMENT -

The outpouring of support and assistance that has come in the past 24 hours since news of our bus fire and the loss of it, team uniforms, equipment and personal belongings of the team members has been nothing short of overwhelming. We are so grateful that no injuries or loss of life occurred and know there was definitely divine intervention during this episode.

There's an old folk song "Go Tell Aunt Rhoadie" (not sure of the spelling) that has a verse saying to tell her "the old gray goose is dead" - in this case, as many of the former players have already observed, the Old Blue Goose IV is indeed cooked, but another observation was that the A's family is alive and will survive.

One of the things we feel has made the A's a unique program is its feeling of "family" and with this incident it only shows that the "family" is growing and getting stronger in spite of the adversity. It is the reason the A's have had such longevity and are into their 54th season.

Our game last night was postponed and will be played July 21 instead of June 23 as stated earlier. The rest of the schedule will be played as originally planned. Will try to get game results, etc. up as soon as we retrieve that information.

Efforts are being made to secure a bus and to replace the uniforms and equipment at the earliest possible date - till that time the team will use what older uniforms are at hand.

Will keep you updated on what fund raising efforts are put in place if you want to participate in that. Your thoughts and prayers are so appreciated also.
