2005 TEAM FINISHES WITH 42-15 RECORD

What a season to remember. No, there was no National Championship, but just a lot of happenings in a season called by most, unbelievable. The team finished 42-15, won the MINK League title for the second straight year, grabbed the Central USA Regional title (considered one of the strongest regionals in the country) and finished fourth in the NBC World Series in Wichita. Probably the most amazing feat was that they never lost two games in a row, including tourney play, for the second year in a row.

All this was accomplished with a group of players who were labeled and average team by several league managers. Hats go off to Manager Ryan Eberly and player/coach Bobby Koba. Koba added even more glitter to the accomplishments by being named the NBC All American DH at the tournament in Wichita.

It was Koba’s second year as assistant to Eberly who finished his third year as manager. “It was a great feeling to see how the guys came together, especially down the stretch. It seemed like all contributed in one way or another and it was truly a team effort,” Eberly said. “I certainly didn’t expect to do quite this well, especially in the Nationals with our tough bracket. They played hard and that’s all you can ask, he continued. “Toward the end of the summer we had some guys step it up and it brought the rest with them. This year’s “boys of summer” will carry the tag, ‘Well done’ through the years.”

“I want to thank the community and fans for the support and also coach Koba. He did a great job. For the players who stuck it out, they now know what the feeling of success is. Hope we can do it again next summer," Eberly concluded.
