(Clarinda) -- The Clarinda A's and Joplin Outlaws split a MINK League doubleheader on Thursday in Clarinda with the Outlaws winning game one, 6-1, and Clarinda taking the nightcap, 8-1.

In the opener, Clarinda collected just six singles in the game with Bud Britt driving in Blake Trahan for the lone run of the game. Bobby LeWarne took the loss despite striking out six Outlaws in six innings.

The nightcap was much more positive for the A's as they pounded out 11 hits behind the strong pitching of Steven Rodriguez, who allowed just one run on three hits and struck out five.

D'Marco Poindexter led the attack with three hits and two runs scored while Trahan finished with two hits, two runs batted in and two runs scored. Keith Cormier also had a two-RBI double in the win.

The A's are now 24-12 overall and 21-12 in MINK League play and sit three games above the St. Joe Mustangs in the Northern Division. The A's will host the Ozark Generals for two Saturday and one on Sunday.
