EARLY SUMMER STORM DOES DAMAGE AT BASEBALL FACILITY

Storms June3 took their toll at Clarinda Municipal Stadium/Eberly Field. The heavy winds with rain and hail crushed the batting cage at the north end of the club house and blew in two different sections of the left and left center field fence. A’s team members are shown joining the City crew to help move the pieces of the damaged sections as well as move the advertising sings to a safe place till they can be put up again. A big thanks to the City for getting a chain link fence put in quickly so the A’s game could be played that night & the High School the following night. At this time, not sure when a complete repair job will be done on the damaged areas. The batting cage had been a gift from former A’s player Von Hayes over 20 years ago so has served well during that time, with only the net needing to be replaced a few times.
