Clarinda A's Baseball

(Clarinda) -- The Clarinda A's moved back above .500 (25-24) with a doubleheader sweep of the Branson Nationals on Sunday night, taking wins of 9-3 and 2-0.

In the opener, Clarinda exploded for five runs in the third and then tacked on four in the fifth for the seven-inning win.

DMarco Poindexter had three hits and drove in two runs in the win while Dakota Woods had two hits, scored two runs and drove in one run. Danny Matienzo also had two RBI in the game.

In the nightcap, the A's struck for two runs in the fifth and they held up behind the pitching of Jason McDonald. McDonald allowed just one hit and walked six while striking out five in five scoreless innings of work.

Ethan Mohan provided all the production, finishing the night with two hits, two RBI and a run scored.

The A's will host the St. Joe Mustangs on Monday at 7:00 while the Chillicothe Mudcats come in for the season finale on Tuesday.
