(Joplin) -- The Clarinda A's earned a split with the Joplin Outlaws on Saturday, falling in the opener by a 3-1 count before rebounding in a big way with a 12-1 win in the nightcap.

The A's managed just four hits in the first game, while Joplin scored all three of their runs in the first inning.

Clarinda's lone run came on an RBI by Mondesi Gutierrez, who drove in Dakota Woods after Woods had doubled earlier in the inning.

Samuel Reed took the loss, throwing 4 1/3 innings and giving up three runs on six hits and three walks while striking out two.

The A's struck early in the final game of the night, scoring four runs in the first and three in the second before adding a single run in the third and an additional four in the seventh.

Zack belanger had a double, drove in three, walked twice and scored one time in the game, while Dakota Woods had two hits, two RBI, three runs and two walks.

Chase Hamilton had a big game, too, smashing a double among his three hits and driving in two. In all, the A's had nine hits and 13 walks.

The beneficiary of all that run-scoring was Collin Orellana, who went four innings to get the win. He did walk six but struck out two and only allowed a run on three hits.

The A's and the Outlaws close out the three-game weekend set with a game on Sunday at 5:00.
