A's rally to win third straight

(Clarinda) -- The Clarinda A's rallied for an 8-6 victory over the first place St. Joe Mustangs on Sunday night, scoring the final five runs of the game.

The A's, who have now won three in a row, trailed 6-3 going into the bottom of the fifth inning before exploding for three to tie it. They would add single runs in the seventh and eighth innings to hang on for the win.

Clayton Daniel had a monster game, tripling and driving in a run while collecting five hits and scoring three times. Chase Hamilton reached base three times on two hits and a hit by pitch.

Hamilton, Dakota Woods and Zack Belanger all had runs driven in.

Dylan Algra's three shutout innings in relief earned him in the victory. He gave up just one hit and walked one while striking out four. Chad Cox worked a perfect eighth, and Justin Hoyt pitched a clean ninth to earn the save.

The A's (20-16) are off Monday before hosting the Kansas City Monarchs on Tuesday night at 7:15 PM.
