A's pound Nationals in Sunday sweep

(Clarinda) -- The Clarinda A's picked up a dominant sweep of the Branson Nationals on Sunday, winning games by 8-1 and 12-5 scores.

In the opener, Derrick Adams threw all seven innings, allowing just one run on five hits and three walks. He struck out seven National batters.

At the plate, Alex Henwood, Eric Wagaman, Dillon Millar and Jacob White had two hits apiece to lead the A's. Wells Davis had just one hit, but it was a double and drove in three. Millar also had two RBI.

 

In the nightcap, the A's trailed 5-0 into the bottom of the third when they put seven on the board. They would add two more in the fourth and three in the sixth for the final margin.

Mondesi Gutierrez led a 12-hit attack with three safeties, driving in two and scoring one time. Wagaman had a double, a home run and three RBI out of the cleanup spot.

Henwood and Cody Hinson picked up two hits each, with the latter driving in two and Henwood bringing in one run.

Luke LeBlanc threw three shutout innings in relief. He scattered four hits nad two walks and struck out two batters.

The A's will be back on the road to Sedalia later tonight before returning home for a six-game stand.
