Jones, McCall, Phillips & Gillespie Win Trivia Night

A's had a successful evening hosting trivia event

They may have been "Here For the Beer", but the team comprised of Jones, McCall, Phillips and Gillespie took home the trophy at the A's 1st Annual Trivia Night.  November 17 over eighty community members braved the ice and snow for a chance to compete in the A's trivia contest.  Lots of laughs were enjoyed by all through seven rounds of trivia questions.  In the end it all came down to the final question- With a wager of twenty points, team "Here for the Beer" successfully named all four Monopoly railroads to win the game.  Thank you to all ten teams who attended and supported the Clarinda Iowa A's Baseball program!  Special thanks also to Clarinda Country Club and Weinreich Barbecue.

Scott Kurtz will be inducted into NWMSU HOF Oct. 12

Former A, Scott Kurtz, will be inducted into the Northwest Missouri State University Hall of Fame on October 12, 2018 in Maryville, MO.  Scott held several NWMSU pitching records for 48 years including single-season strike outs (97) and career strike outs (223).

He still holds many A's pitching records 50+ years later. Scott had 217 strike outs in 1968 (pitching 111 innings), 200 in 1967, and 200 in 1971.  Scott continues to be an important part of the Clarinda community and A's family.  Still young at heart, he threw out the first pitch during the July 3rd game in 2018.

Congratulations to Scotty Kurtz for this wonderful recognition!  For ticket information to this event contact Northwest University at 660.562.1977
